Please read these Terms of Use ("Terms") carefully. They form a binding agreement between you and Mafin ("we", "us", "our") and govern your access to and use of the Mafin mobile application and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
By ticking the acceptance box, creating an account, or otherwise using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not create an account or use the Service.
You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent in your country, to use the Service. By using Mafin you represent that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.
If you use the Service on behalf of a business or another person, you represent that you are authorized to accept these Terms on their behalf.
Mafin helps you capture, organize, and analyze your expenses. Features may include scanning receipts, automatic text extraction (OCR), categorizing spending, setting budgets, generating reports, and optionally sharing data within a shared "Space".
We may add, change, or remove features at any time. We do our best to keep the Service reliable, but it is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity that happens under your account. Notify us immediately if you suspect any unauthorized use.
You agree to provide accurate account information and to keep it up to date. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe are being used fraudulently.
You retain ownership of the receipts, images, notes, and other content you add to Mafin ("Your Content"). We do not claim ownership of Your Content.
You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display Your Content solely to operate and provide the Service to you — for example, to run OCR on a receipt image, sync it across your devices, and show it back to you or to members of a Space you choose to share it with.
You are responsible for Your Content and confirm you have the right to upload it.
You agree not to misuse the Service. In particular, you must not: (a) break any applicable law; (b) upload content that is unlawful, infringing, or that you have no right to share; (c) attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other accounts, or our systems; (d) interfere with or disrupt the Service; or (e) reverse engineer, scrape, or resell the Service except as permitted by law.
Your privacy matters to us. Our Privacy Policy explains what data we collect and how we use it, and it forms part of these Terms.
To provide the Service we rely on trusted third parties, including cloud hosting and database services (Supabase), authentication providers, and analytics and stability tooling (such as Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics). These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms.
Receipt images may be processed by automated text-recognition (OCR) systems to extract details such as merchant, date, and amount. We use anonymous, aggregated analytics to understand how the app is used and to improve it.
Mafin lets you create or join a shared "Space" (for example, with family or a business partner) to share receipts and analytics. If you add content to a Space, other members of that Space can view it.
Only share content and Spaces with people you trust. You are responsible for what you choose to share, and for inviting or removing members.
The Service integrates with third-party platforms, including Apple, Google, and the providers listed above. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them.
The Service is currently offered free of charge. We may introduce paid plans or premium features in the future. If we do, we will make the price and terms clear before you are charged, and any purchase will be handled through the applicable app store.
The Service, including its software, design, branding, and content (excluding Your Content), belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service in line with these Terms.
Mafin is a tool to help you track expenses. Any totals, categories, budgets, or reports it produces are for your convenience only and do not constitute financial, accounting, or tax advice. You are responsible for verifying figures and for your own financial and tax decisions.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that OCR results will always be accurate.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or if we discontinue the Service.
On termination, the rights granted to you end, but any provisions that by their nature should survive (such as ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will continue to apply.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the version and effective date and ask you to review and accept the updated Terms before you continue using the Service.
Continuing to use the Service after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable at our principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing here removes any mandatory consumer protections you have where you live.
